Stephen Farr, Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Stones River Detachment, stated the mission of the Flotilla will be to patrol the navigable waters on J. The Flotilla has been in the process of being chartered since January, 1999 and is seeking new members who must be U.S. citizens and at least 17 years of age.

The Auxiliary, an all volunteer organization, is a non-military civilian affiliate of the United States Coast Guard.  Auxiliarists operate safety patrols and perform search        and rescue assistance using their privately owned vessels and aircraft.  The Auxiliarists also provide public education classes in boating safety and conduct free       courtesy marine examinations for recreational vessels.  The duties of the Auxiliarists have greatly increased since the USCG Auxiliary Act of 1996.  Two of these          duties include Marine Environmental Protection and Aids To Navigation.

The Eleventh Division of the Eighth Eastern Region, mostly based but not contained in Nashville with 121 members, serves Old Hickory Lake, Center Hill Lake,              Dale Hollow Lake, J.
